What we do

European Affairs

The broad aim of the European Affairs Department is to maximise the influence of the chamber network during relevant policy discussions at EU level.

As a direct consequence of this advocacy work, EUROCHAMBRES also develops initiatives in the framework of EU programmes and the chambers are ideally placed to deliver projects relating to the European SME community.

Key areas covered by the European Affairs Department include:

Competitiveness, CSR, Economic & Monetary Affairs,Education, Vocational Training & Apprenticeships, Employment, Energy, Enterprise Creation, Development and Transfer, Environment, EU Budget, Innovation & Research, Internal Market, IPR, Regional Policy, Regulatory Reform, Taxation, Transport, EUROCHAMBRES Women’s Network, EUROCHAMBRES Economic Survey (EES), EUROCHAMBRES Regional Competitiveness Atlas
International Affairs

The International Affairs Department focuses on relations between the EU and the rest of the world: how can European business remain competitive in the global economy and how can EU policies and programmes contribute to that competitiveness?

The Department addresses various “horizontal” dossiers such as the WTO negotiations, the reform of the EU Customs policy, trade and security, etc. In addition, a “regional” focus is being developed: EU relations with Latin America, the Gulf, ACP, Asia, Transatlantic relations, etc. For each region, a mix of policy and project work is developed by our team.

Relations with counterpart organisations around the world are coordinated through the Global Chamber Platform. Finally, the Department also covers strategic dossiers such as the European Chambers abroad, the internationalisation of SMEs and the EU enlargement process.

Chamber Affairs

EUROCHAMBRES aims at facilitating communication and exchange of experiences, information and best practices within the network of Chambers of Commerce while offering services and tools for the Association and its members.

Activities range from external communications to the management of international exchange programmes between Chamber experts, and from training to the implementation of new technologies.

EUROCHAMBRES also uses the media channel to promote the views and activities of its members. Through regular media relations – including press releases and features in both printed and audiovisual media – EUROCHAMBRES strives to consolidate its role as a valued business interlocutor towards European Institutions.

A close cooperation with press officers in national Chambers ensures that the image of Chambers is shaped in a coordinated way throughout the whole network.
